Dalla carta… alla carta

How important trees are for our planet! This is what we learned during the CLIL moments with the last year of the children of Santo Spirito Nursery School. Trees are important elements that make the air we breathe healthy … we cannot destroy them; we must be careful.

So, then we tried to understand that, if we avoided wasting paper, we could most certainly save the trees. We then started a search on the LIM how you can produce new paper … from old paper. Why not give it a try?

We went to work and collected some leftover paper made earlier and cut the leftovers into small pieces; we then added the water and let it sit for 2 days. We went out into the garden, took the water with the paper, which by now had become ‘pulp’, and we turned it over onto a mosquito net, distributing it evenly; then we dried the pulp with cloths, pressing in such a way as to make it flat; and, then we left it to dry in the sun.

As if by magic we saw our work transform into a colourful sheet, which we cut out and decorated. We were really satisfied with our work and very happy to have learned new things in English!

Quanto sono importanti gli alberi per il nostro pianeta! E’ questo che abbiamo imparato durante i momenti di CLIL con i bambini dell’ultimo anno della Scuola dell’Infanzia Santo Spirito. Gli alberi sono elementi importanti per rendere sana l’aria che respiriamo… non possiamo distruggerli senza fare attenzione.

Ecco che allora abbiamo cercato di capire che, se evitiamo di sprecare la carta, salviamo gli alberi. Abbiamo allora guardato alla LIM come si può ottenere carta nuova… da carta vecchia. Perchè non provarci?

Ci siamo messi all’opera ed abbiamo raccolto della carta avanzata fatto in precedenza ed abbiamo tagliato gli avanzi piccoli pezzetti; abbiamo poi aggiunto l’acqua e lasciato riposare per 2 giorni. Siamo usciti in giardino, abbiamo preso l’acqua con la carta, che ormai era diventata ‘polpa’, e l’abbiamo rovesciata su una zanzariera, distribuendola in modo omogeneo; poi abbiamo asciugato la polpa prima con dei teli, pigiando in modo tale da renderlo piatto, e poi l’abbiamo lasciata asciugare al sole.

Come per magia, abbiamo visto il nostro lavoro trasformarsi in un bellissimo foglio colorato, che abbiamo ritagliato e decorata. Siamo stati soddisfatti del nostro lavoro e molto contenti di aver imparato cose nuove in inglese!
